Tonight I have something to offer that’s not art…it’s a lovely story. The story of the worst thing I have ever taken part in creating.
So!! Back at the beginning of the second semester of AP Calculus we were taking our first quiz on intergrals, and my teacher told us that he wanted to see the big “S” on our quiz or else we wouldn’t get credit.
Now, by big “S” of course he meant the integral symbol, like this:
But the integral symbol is not the first thing my gremlin brain thinks of when I hear “the big S” and then I got a horrible idea, which I then proceeded to draw and show to my Calc teacher…
It has been dubbed the Cursed Integral by my class and my teacher hates it with all of his being
Today at dinner my little brother showed me this cartoon, and when I saw it I found myself wondering, does Chewbacca straighten his hair? How long does that take? So I did some math (at the dinner table)
My hair takes an average of 2 hours to straighten, and according to google an average human head has a circumfrence of around 21 in. My head is tiny so I called it 20 in in circumference, 20/pi/2 in radius, or about 3.18
I, for the purposes of this experiment, assumed my head is a sphere. Using a surface area calculator because I am a lazy bitch I found that my head is about 127.323. My hair probably takes up around half of my head, so the surface area of my hair is around 63.662 inches squared
For Chewbacca’s surface area I got really lazy and used a rectangular surface area calculator and figured he was about 7ft x 2.5ft x 1ft. So his total surface area is 54 ft squared. Converting that to inches squared for nice numbers gets us to 7776 in squared.
All that’s left is simple division, and 7776/63.662 is 122.145. So if Chewbacca has 122 times the amount of hair surface area as I do. However, his hair is definitely shorter and I have what hairdressors and nyw mom like to refer to as “a good amount of hair”, so I’ll assume that the 1-2 hours it would take me is probably just half and hour to an hour for him. That makes it about 61 to 122 hours to straighten his hair, or 2 to 5 days of constant straigthening.
Therefore, this cartoon is fake af
