For most child mascots, walking out onto the pitch with a professional footballer is a huge thrill – a genuinely unforgettable moment.There are always a few kids who get a bit nervous or overawed, of course – hearing the roar of the crowd greeting the players can make for an intimidating moment. There are very few kids who don’t feel some strong emotions either way.

Well, this lad doesn’t go with the crowd. This lad has reacted to the whole experience of being a child mascot with the cool nonchalance of an indifferent teenager. Just ask Barcelona’s star centre-back Gerard Pique – he’s been cruelly embarrassed as a result.

Ahead of Barca’s big Champions League clash with Bayer Leverkusen , Pique greeted his allocated mascot in the tunnel. The kid then asked who exactly he was – presumably crushing his soul in the process.

Yes, that’s right. Prior to a match in which he was playing, at the Nou Camp, in front of his teammates, Pique actually had to identify himself to a child. As humiliating as this must have been, he didn’t let him put him off – Barca won the match 2-1. full article/video
