I read a really fantastic thread on /r/askreddit titled “Ex-Homophobes of Reddit, what made you change your views?” and a good chunk of the answers were along the lines of, “I left home and went to college for four years and it completely changed my perspective.”
Getting away from your upbringing in a place where you’re encountering others with different perspectives can have a huge impact on your belief system. It allows people to separate themselves from their parents and start questioning everything they’ve been taught.
Your children aren’t being pushed to the left by education — without the force of your influence, they’re just bouncing back to where a normal person would naturally be.
