If you ask someone to get tested before yall engage in sexual activities and they give you a rough time… fucking run. They can keep whatever they have to themselves.

this post is SOOOO ugly.
the only thing i’m running away from is ur HIV stigma honestly

good stay away

Wanting to avoid a disease that will ruin all future chances of having a healthy, physical relationship with someone or producing healthy children is stigma?

hi! i know this post is a bit old, but i have good news! people with HIV can absolutely have happy, healthy lives including sexual relationships with HIV-negative people.

people with HIV who are receiving successful treatment can keep their immune systems strong, and reduce the level of the virus in their blood so low it’s undetectable, which means they can’t transmit the virus! also, PrEP, or pre-exposure prophylaxis, is a medicine HIV-negative people can take to protect themselves from HIV, kind of like the birth control pill.

this way, it’s possible for someone with HIV to conceive a child through sex without transmitting HIV to either partner or baby! and we’ve known how to prevent transmission of HIV from mother to child through treatment for decades. in many places, like new york, it is now actually rare for babies to be born with HIV.

but all of these good things are harder to achieve when we let stigma and lack of information get in the way of prevention, testing, and treatment.

now you know!

The stigma of STDs must be challenged!

Okay, here’s the thing, and I think y’all missed it:

Let me use myself as an example.

I have herpes simplex 2. That’s the one that gives you cold sores, and up to 80% of the global population has it. But, even though it’s not genital herpes, if you go down on somebody during an outbreak, they can get herpes 2 in their junk. And it’s nasty. The usual problem is “just” a cold sore, but during severe outbreaks–which can occur if, for example, you’re on antibiotics during an outbreak–you can develop sores on your lips, inside of your mouth, even in your throat. They break, they bleed, they ooze, it sucks. During my last major outbreak (so far my only major outbreak, thankfully) I ate nothing but lukewarm soup for a week.

So now let’s say I have a new partner, and I’m in what I think might be the starting stages of an outbreak. Because I am an honest person, and feel they have the right to informed consent, I’m going to ask if they get cold sores (if the answer is yes, they’re fine, because you can’t get herpes twice). If the answer is no, I’m going to tell them I have herpes 2, explain what that is, and suggest we cool it with the kissing and/or sexytimes until I’m not virus-shedding. And nobody has given me shit for this, ever. I’ve had a couple of people thank me for my honesty. That’s it.

But now let’s say I’m a total shitstain. I know I’m in an outbreak. And I do not tell my partner, and I go down on her. I have decided, for her, that for the rest of her life she should deal with occasional bouts of weeping sores, raw skin, and thick mucous crusts on/in/around her genitals and possibly on and in her mouth.

I’ve given her a lifelong disease. She had no chance to consent or even say “I am willing to take this risk.” Isn’t that basically a form of rape?

So if you ask someone for an STD test and they refuse, they are hiding something and you should run. If you ask for an STD test and they say okay, or just straight-up say “I can get tested to check my viral load but you should know I have HIV,” that person is a keeper. They will be honest with you about their health and yours. They probably have information on how to reduce your transmission risk even further, and will inform you and use that information. (Which doesn’t take the onus off you to do your own research, by the way, it just means you have a starting point.) And as noted above, if their viral load is undetectable, they can’t transmit! I wouldn’t start having regular condomless sex without guidance from a sexual health expert, but you really have very little to fear.

Don’t be afraid of the STD, or the honest person who has it. Be afraid of the person who refuses to disclose.

Daily reminder that “Missing Person” posts are a common and often effective method that abusers use to find their victims that have run away from them. Also used to find people in the witness protection program.

If you see a “missing person” post with a number that is not just 911 on it, be very wary. And if you do see someone who is supposedly missing, call the police, NOT the number provided on the post. I trust the police as little as anyone but they’ll at least be able to tell you if that person is actually missing and it has less of a chance of giving information to a possible abuser.

A couple of red flags I’ve noticed:

  • Abusers claiming their victims are mentally ill or schizophrenic, to explain why they might not want to come back
  • Abusers giving any excuse to explain why their victims may not come back really
  • Abusers telling you not to approach their victims if you see them, or limit your communication with them
  • Abusers telling you not to mention them to their victims at all
  • Abusers claiming that their victims aren’t safe with their family or friends
  • Abusers claiming their victims are being threatened away from them

Please reblog, this is so important.

I needed this

Is this foreal?

Yes it’s a real service. I do volunteer work for a rape crisis support service in my city and texting is one of the features we provide as well. But just to boost its credibility, I tried it myself:

reblog to save lives!

You can also text “Steve” to 741741 if you’re a young person of color. The website for more info is stevefund.org

My understanding is that it’s more multicultural and some folks feel more comfy with that in mind!

^^^^^THIS

get help guys, please. if you’re hurting, don’t let that hurt consume you. seek help.

I never knew this. It’s spectacular.

THIS is what I was looking for a few weeks ago when I was in crisis; reblog to save a life!

Hey, just so you know, the guy behind the pixie and brutus comics is a tr**p supporter

this is the worst news ive got in weeks

The artist’s name is Ben Hed and yeppp pro-trump.

HEY THATS ME

so the issue is wat exactly?

Trump, as I know you know, is trying his damnedest to take away a lot of people’s civil and human rights. His supporters necessarily support this -either because they actively hate us, or because whatever “non hateful” reason they have to support Trump is more important to them than the fact he is, as I said, trying to take away a lot of people’s rights.

So, when we see that we’ve been sharing the work of a Trump supporter, we want to know about it so we can stop. We don’t want to contribute to Trump supporters getting attention or getting paid for their art, no matter what the art consists of, because the person who made it either wants us dead/deported/fired or kicked out of our house for being trans/etc, or doesn’t care that they’re helping that shit happen. (And the distinction between those two things matters a lot less than you likely think.)

I just messaged the artist on his Instagram. This is NOT him.

Please spread this version. If he had a Twitter he would cross promo his Instagram. At least for the exposure.

Using their Bro-ness for good, not evil

So a tiny story: on Black Friday a few weeks ago I went to Gamestop to buy my brother a game for Christmas, and I noticed this older man was watching me like a hawk. He was loitering around the front of the store without really buying anything, and every time I glanced at him out of the corner of my eye he was looking at me. I went to look at the PS4 games, and he was looking at something right behind me. I checked out the Nintendo games, and he was looking at them too. I was the only woman in the store, by the way.

By the time I got in line to pay he was loitering at the front of the store again, and I just had that feeling that he was going to try and take the game I just bought, or steal my purse, as soon as I left the store. OR, he was going to try and follow me home. And I know I don’t have to explain that terror to any woman reading this, but all I could think was that I’m in this Gamestop alone with at least twenty other men and something is about to happen. I’m beginning to freak out, to the point where I’ve just pulled my pepper spray out of my purse and into the pocket of my coat.

So there I am, next in line to pay, and there is this GIGANTIC dudebro right behind me, and I say gigantic as a 6 foot tall woman. He says, “Ma’am? Don’t be offended, but would it be alright if I walked you to your car?” and I was like “Are you serious?” and he was like “There are some weird guys in here right now. Have you noticed that guy watching you?” and then I showed the dudebro the pepper spray in my pocket and he was like “Right on. Would you still let me walk you to your car?” and I said yes.

So I paid, and waited while HE paid, and he walked me to my car. And just as I was getting in, the weird guy who’d been loitering came out of the store, saw me and my dudebro, and turned around and walked away in the opposite direction.

In short: men who recognize that women are unsafe in dark alleys, college campuses, grocery stores, gas stations and retail stores and do something about it are the kind of quality men that this world needs more of.

Please for the love of god yes.

He does this through his Prowess, his Ability

hey trans friends

if you need binders/breast forms/makeup/etc but don’t want your parents to know, now is the best time to get it.

you can order whatever it is online and when the package comes in if the ask what it is you can say something like “it’s a secret!” or even just sssh them. they’ll assume it’s a present for whatever holiday you celebrate and probably won’t press the issue.

oh my god this is amazing

I normally don’t reblog stuff like this but this is a very important life hack!

make sure you actually buy a present though or else this is all going to fall apart. it doesn’t have to be expensive, e.g. a “best dad” mug, socks, a bath bomb, multi-tool variations of everyday objects, soap, tea, a candle, et cetera.

November/December, Happy Holidays

hi your local jew here reminding you that cherubim, seraphim, nephilim, and words of that nature ARE PLURAL and therefore should not be used to refer to a singular one of these creatures like i see every day of my g-dforsaken life

a single instance would be referred to as a cherub, a seraph, a nephil, et cetera

these words originated from hebrew, and in hebrew -im and -ot are our plural endings. so if you say, like, nephilim in order to refer to a single nephil, it’s like you’re saying “look, a dogs!” it just doesn’t match up and you look really silly

goyim you can reblog please do so to spare yourselves and your friends from this thing that i legitimately see everywhere i turn

Brazil did it. Brazil elected a neo-facist, racist, homophobic asshole to govern our country and the consequences about it it’s already happening.

In less than 24h since he’s been elected it’s been hell of fucking earth in Brazil. Countless people have been reported dead all over the country, mainly LGBTQ+. Countless. People parading around cities with their fucking guns (it’s pretty much illegal in Brazil but this asshole is trying to change our law to allow guns, he’s even encouraging parents to give their kids a gun ????), shooting it into the sky in sign of victory. Did you know that one of those bullets killed a child? Yeah. One killed an old lady too. There’s been report of them invading a indigenous village and attacked them. They’ve been saying they are going to kill every single “slut”, “fag”, “dyke”, poor people, Nordestino (people that lives in Nordeste, a region in Brazil, that is mainly against this government), black and homeless people. Aka in the last 24h Brazil felt what is like to live in the fucking Purge.

There’s already people recruiting “good citizens” to erradicate Brazil of “fags and dykes, because now that their master’s been elected, there’s nothing protecting them, they’re not even people.” I kid you not. They’ve created group chats in popular apps to talk about mass shooting the LGBTQ+ community in Brazil. Yesterday there were people waiting outside a queer club to beat anyone that went outside.

Our police enforcement already started to invade college campuses and schools to destroy history books because they think our teachers are indoctrinating us in favor of communism. These history books tells about our 1964 military dictatorship (something we’re very afraid of happening again and we’re pretty sure is gonna happen with this demon in charge). They are trying to say that we choose to elect a military government back then, when in fact was a fucking coup. They’re also trying to get rid of philosophy classes and social studies because they think it only teach us to become communists as well. Basically, they’re all very ignorant and violents and they’re trying to fuck with the only fucking hope we have to our future: education.

You won’t probably hear many of the things I’m saying because I’ve been reading it on social media, and everything we (the opposition) say on social media is basically reported as “fake news” by his voters. But yeah, I can’t count how many videos I’ve saw today of women getting beaten and threatened. Of how many stories I’ve read of people walking the streets and cars pullover poiting guns at them and threaten them. Of people posting pictures of their “victory bbq” with guns spread in their tables close to their fucking meat. Of how many times I’ve cried since his pronouncement, thinking about how I’ve never felt so unsafe in my entire life. Of how I’ll have to be cautious about everything from now on, if I don’t want to become another casualty.

If you don’t believe what I’m saying, read about what foreign news are talking about us:

I do not care if you give two shits about politics or what’s happening in the world right now, just please take some time out of your day to really look at this.

I am so sorry Brazil.

ALSO!!!!!!!!!!!!

In Whatsapp (the most used messaging app in Brazil), if you receive a contact from a “juridical support group for LGBT+ people who are being harassed” called “REAJA”, DO NOT INTERACT!!!!!!! Apparently, this is not a real support group but it’s a trap that are targeting LGBT+ people to physically harm them. They people behind “REAJA” have very malicious intentions.

Be careful and stay safe!!!!!!!

I keep forgetting what the differences are in the over the counter pain relievers, so I made a handy chart.

THANK YOU OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As someone who suffers from migraines too often, this is perfect. Please share this helpful chart!!

Also, tylenol is good for nerve pain, like fibromyalgia.

Excedrin is also great for migraines because it contains caffeine, they have a line called Excedrin Migraine, but the original is just as effective

yea i knew aleve was fuckin me up for no reason gotta switch asap

Acetaminophen = Paracetamol for non-Americans.

A note for anyone sensitive like me: even though it says that stomach upsets are mild when talking ibuprofen, if you have h. Pilori or have acidity issues, take heartburn medicine with it! I almost ended up with ulcers because I was taking Advil a lot. It’s best to be safe when taking NSAIDs (bc let’s be honesty Tylenol doesn’t do shit)

My doctor gave me a combination to take for pain that he said was almost as effective as morphine in studies (idk how accurate it is, but I swear on my life that’s what he said, and it has been extremely helpful for my migraines and chronic pains, as well as my husband’s post-Lyme syndrome pain). The catch is that you can’t take it more than once every 6-8 hrs, honest to goodness please don’t take it more than every 6-8 hours, you could hurt yourself.

It is 3 tablets of 200mg ibuprofen, and 1 tablet of 500mg acetaminophen (tylenol). Both parts of the combination are under the recommended max dosage, and they are safe to take together as you can see from the chart (acetaminophen is not an nsaid, while ibuprofen is, but you can “layer” the two categories together without risk of interaction). The only thing to make sure of is that your ibuprofen is ONLY ibuprofen, because you don’t want another NSAID or any extra acetaminophen in there.

Also, please don’t take it constantly; you can build up tolerance to anything, including general pain relief, and the longer you use it the more risk there is for overdose or serious side effects. I use it on bad pain days and migraine days, not every day. As always, if you are wondering about medicines, talk to your regular doctor to make sure it’s safe for you.
