FC Barcelona Release Video Celebrating Lionel Messi’s Top 10 Champions League Goals.

On this day 10 years ago (Nov. 2nd, 2005) Leo Messi scored his first Champions League goal

It was on 2 November 2005 that Leo Messi scored his first goal in the Champions League. It came in the 34th minute of a group stage match against Panathinaikos at the Camp Nou. And it was no ordinary goal. With Barça already leading 2-0 on a game that ended with the Catalans scoring five, the 18-year-old Argentinian gave us a glimpse of the magic to come by flicking the ball over goalkeeper Galinovic.

77 goals in 100 appearances

Barça would go on to win the title in Paris that season, while Leo Messi was destined to become the greatest player the game has ever seen. He’s scored 77 times in Europe’s premier club competition, winning the trophy four times (2006, 2009, 2011 and 2015).
