The next time someone tries to argue with you about “disrespecting the flag/troops by kneeling” show them this.

Also, the hand goes over the heart during the salute (which is very recent as an addition) while the anthem is sung with hats removed, no hand over heart.

I’m not much of one for caring about arbitrary symbols, but don’t have etiquette if you’re not going to observe it properly, while you scream about others who do.

Mmm… actually. According to federal flag code, the National Anthem is treated the same as the Pledge — hand over heart. I only know this for certain because after noticing several times that I was the only one standing at attention like I was taught growing up, I looked it up.

Luckily I refuse to salute any nationalistic idol so it really doesn’t bother me that standing respectfully is “wrong”. If you don’t want me standing at attention I will gladly sit out of spite.

Sometimes the answer to “why didn’t high school teach me this” is because high school was never meant to bestow all human knowledge onto you. Learning new things after the age of 18 does not mean those things have been hidden from you.

This is the third time I’ve seen this today and I LOVE IT! This this this!.

The dude behind this just posted an update (on twitter and maybe other places I dunno) and it’s still great!

And with the above mentioned update:

Reblogging. I love this guy. And he is from my hometown. Hamburg citizens rule! (Obviously, we do not call ourselves “Hamburgers”)

“more of a Goebbels type of a guy”
